The Translational Research Project Manager (TRPM) oversees the management of the Pediatric and Young Adult Cancer Cell Therapy Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Boston Children's Hospital (BCH). Working closely with program director Robbie Majzner, the TRPM manages and directs the portfolio of novel cell therapies being brought to the clinic from the laboratories of DFCI and BCH. These therapies are designed to alter the standard of care and provide new therapeutic options to children and adults with incurable cancers. This role encompasses strategic decision making, program building, regulatory responsibilities, grant/report writing, and translational oversight to ensure effective translation of novel therapies at DFCI/BCH.Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care.   • Under the guidance of Dr. Majzner, strategizes on program goals and manages the implementation of program goals and objectives.
  • Manages project scope and timeline through formal change management processes.
  • Manages project issues and risks through standard issue/risk process.
  • Performs need assessments, evaluates and analyzes individual program and overall unit or department effectiveness; implements appropriate procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manages relationships with funders and partners including cell manufacturing facility, other principal investigators, foundations, biotechs, and pharma partners; leads collaborative meetings; writes quarterly to yearly reports for funders, as required, and ensures deliverables are met.
  • Strategizes about program funding and assists in the preparation of grant applications.
  • Develops and facilitates or oversees the development and facilitation of workshops, seminars and orientations.
  • With program growth, may manage a team consisting of project managers and scientists.
  • Drafts business plans and strategic documents.
  • Performs regulatory tasks related to IND submissions and annual reports for clinical trials.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Will assist with supervising indirect research staff depending on size and scope of the project, including Translational Research Project Manager I, Clinical Research Coordinators, Research Data Specialists, Research Assistants, and/or Research Technicians with possibility of direct reports.PATIENT CONTACT: May assist with Clinical Research Coordinators and/or Research Data Specialists with consenting patients to research protocols and have other patient contact. - -Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's - degree preferably in a field relevant to clinical research experience.Minimum Experience:
    • 5 years of clinical research experience with 3 years of project management required.
    • Program and/or project management experience in a biotech/pharma and/or academic setting.
    • Regulatory experience with clinical trial development preferred but not required.Through proper management of our program, the TRPM will be an essential member of our team and a key contributor to our success in translating innovative science into the clinic.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
      • Strong competencies in project management, planning, outsourcing, resource management and organization with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and resources, while maintaining a focus on quality.
      • Ability to function effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment, organize and prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
      • Familiarity with or interest/ability to rapidly become expert in PM software such as SmartSheets.
      • Strong Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
      • Enjoys working in an open academic environment.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Solid analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
